Welcome to The Cryin Shames website. Take a look round at the latest news and stories from the past. We re-formed in 2009 as The Bumblies, which was the band’s original name. It was changed in 1966 round about the time of the recording of the bands biggest hit “Please Stay”. Following history the band morphed in the Shames once again for the Operation Big Beat concert celebrating 50 years since the original concert starring The Beatles. The band today consists of two of the original players Dave Ferguson, who along with George Robinson and Mike Parker founded the band in 1963. Charlie Gallagher who played on the Please Stay record is back on the skins. The band also features some great players from the Merseybeat Kevin Murphy on bass who played with The KondorGroup, Colin Gort on Keyboards is regarded as one of the best players around and on lead guitar we have “Baby Bumblie” Steve Maloney.

We recently discovered this rare recording of the Band’s live performance in Paris in 1966, featuring the late great Charlie Crane on vocals.
Please Stay To Feature In New MovieThe band’s 1966 hit Please Stay is to feature in the upcoming movie “The Place Beyond The Pines”, which is scheduled for release April 2013.The band have been happy to give permission for the song to be used inthe movie, and wish the producers every success with the film.The original recording of the song is now available as a download from Itunes.
