Charlie Gallagher
Charlie played drums on Please Stay having joined The joined the Bumblies in 1964. When the
band split at the end of 66, he left show business and went on to a successful career in
commerce. When the band got back together for now legendary reunion tapes, Charlie got the
bug back and with Fergy relaunched The Bumblies at the legendary Hard Days Night Concert in
2009. Charlie has lost none of the explosive drumming style which made the Cryin Shames such
an exciting band.
Dave Ferguson
Dave or Fergy as he prefers to be known was a founder member of the Bumblies in 1963 along
with Mike Parker and George Robinson. After leaving The Bumblies he went on to form The
Fontanas with Pete Campbell and Ronnie Cleaver. Next up he was invited to join the 6 Foot Four
which promptly changed its name to The Politicians. when 5ft 3 Fergy arrived. Dave’s last
involvement with the Merseybeat was with The Countdowns bowing out at The Peppermint
Lounge in Liverpool in 1967. He then joined the rat race and left his guitar in the attic until
2007 when he started back playing at revival jam band nights. Along with Charlie Gallagher he
re-formed The Bumblies in 2007 at the now legendary Hard Days Night show at the world
famous Hotel in the centre of Liverpool. The show was a sell out and band have continued to
play top venues around Liverpool including the world famous Cavern Club.
Steve Maloney
Steve, or “Baby Shame” as he is known in the band is one of Liverpool’s most accomplished
guitarists and although far too young to remember the 60s, he love the Merseybeat and can play
it as good as any of the old hands. Steve is also an accomplished Acoustic player and has
recently appeared at The John &Yoko bed In at the Bluecoat Chambers as part of the
celebrations of John Lennon’s Life in Liverpool.
Steve is an avid collector of guitars. His hero is Dave Gilmour of Pink Floyd, and his version of
Comfortably Numb has to be heard to be believed.
Colin Gort
Colin joined the band after meeting Dave Fergy in a New Brighton pub. He is an experienced
musician having played with a number of pop, rock and soul bands over the years. Interested in
a range of music from pop,jazz and classical. Greatest influences have been the keyboard
players from the 60's and early 70's including Alan Price, Ian Stewart, Georgie Fame, Manfred
Mann, Mike Hugg, Elton John, Gary Brooker,Jon Lord, Rod Argent, Keith Emerson, Nicky
Hopkins.Favorite bands include The Beatles,Rolling Stones,Animals,The Who,Deep
Purple,Manfred Man's Earthband,Gentle Giant,Yes,Asia and King Crimson
Stu Lynch
Stu started off in December 63 with The Klimaks , a band that included future US-based
million-seller Pete Beckett. He played the Cavern in May ’64 and the band have a brick in the
Wall of Fame. In September 64 he joined The Modes, playing venues all over Liverpool area,
including Hope Hall and the CI club.
Stu joined forces with Kenny Parry after The Modes finished, and formed The Rigg with Mick
Pappas on drums. They became Cavern regulars and played on the first ‘last night of the
Cavern’ in March ’66, (the Cryin Shames were top of the bill) – another brick in the wall.
After The Rigg split up he joined popular Soul/Motown group The Runaways. – ,playing the
Cavern (yet another brick in the wall). In Jan ’68 – he joined the Fruit Eating Bears backing
The Merseys playing their hit “Sorrow”. He also played on the B-side of Lovely Loretta – a song
called Dreaming, written by Jimmy Campbell). The band also did a series of recordings at the
BBC that were broadcast on the Pete Brady Show, in the early days of Radio 1. June ’69 – Stu
joined up once again with Kenny Parry to form Birthday, playing alongside ex-Cryin Shame
Richie Routledge. Stu quite the business in the mid 70s to get a proper job, but in 95, he got
together once again with Kenny Parry. The band played for a couple of years, including a
residency at Fogherty’s a famous live music venue in Liverpool, with Dave Goldberg on
keyboards and Alex Watts on drums. Stu then went on to play with Southport-based show/soul
band Switchback before joining up with Keith Hubbard in Shooter, finally after a 5 year gap
he’s back again.
